~Feline Laser Declaw~
Many people who keep their cats indoors have their front paws declawed to prevent damage to furniture or injury to family members. This surgery is done under a combination of general anesthesia and a local nerve block. Declawing your kitten can be done as early as two months of age, but is often done at the same time as spaying or neutering. At Lakeland Veterinary Hospital, we use a laser rather than a scalpel to perform this procedure. Using the laser means less pain, less bleeding, less swelling, and a quicker recovery. Because we believe that the laser is vastly superior in every way to standard techniques for declawing, at Lakeland Veterinary Hospital, it is the only method we employ.
