~General Soft Tissue Surgery~

Soft tissue surgery refers to any surgery which involves the skin, ears, eyes, intestinal system, internal organs, or reproductive system.  Routine surgeries, such as spays, neuters, and declawing cats, are given the highest quality care.  All surgeries are performed with modern anesthetics, sterile equipment, and full surgical gowns in dedicated surgical rooms.  Aftercare is very important, and we keep a close eye on all animals following the surgery.

We recommend blood tests prior to surgery in order to make the procedure as safe as possible.  The animals are monitored closely and given pain medications to make the surgery as comfortable as possible.  We use pulse oximeter surgical monitors which allow us to measure heart rate and oxygen in the blood to insure the anesthesia is as safe as possible.

Each surgery gets an individual sterile pack, and we have advanced equipment available.  Our surgical laser allows us to perform some surgeries with less bleeding, less pain, and better comfort for the animal.  In fact, we perform all of our cat declaws with the surgical laser in order to make the animals as comfortable as possible.

The veterinarians at Lakeland Veterinary Hospital perform a wide range of non-routine surgeries.  Intestinal surgery, stomach surgery, bladder surgery, ear surgery, eye surgeries, hernia repairs, and tumor removals are all performed in the hospital.  We work very hard to provide the highest quality surgery, pain control, and aftercare to help your pet have the best possible recovery.  Our hospital is staffed 24 hours to make sure that we can keep a close eye on any animal recovering from surgeries.

Lakeland Veterinary Hospital, through partnership with Lakes Area Veterinary Emergency service, provides 24 hour emergency care.  This means that if your four legged friend should need emergency surgical care, even in the middle of the night, we will have a veterinarian able to handle the emergency.
